Mundigi donates uniform for Sunday school children, preaches unity

BY CANDLE NEWS KENYA

Former Embu Senatorial aspirant Alexander Mundigi last Sunday donated uniforms to ACK All Saints Njarange Church Sunday school’s dancing troupe.

He had made the promise during Embu Speaker Josiah Thiriku’s homecoming party a year ago.

Rev Joseph Fundi received the 60 uniforms and blessed Mundigi for the contribution.

Mundigi advised Embu Governor Martin Wambora and local ward representatives to drop their current hard stances and reconcile for the sake of the county’s growth.

The Governor and the County Assembly have been engaged in a standoff that paralysed revenue collection last month after MCAs passed a motion to stop charging of county levies to protest against Wambora’s appointment of two chief officers.

However, Wambora obtained a court injunction that enabled resumption of revenue collection, and on Jamhuri Day publicly reprimanded MCAs for “interfering” in the affairs of the Executive instead of concentrating on their mandate.

Mundigi has consequently warned the unending political wrangles that have plagued Embu County since advent of devolution is marring development.

According to Wambora for the last years, he has worked in peace for only one year and 10 months as the rest of the years were characterised by MCAs fighting him.

Mundigi advised the two dueling parties to swallow their pride, bury the hatchet and accommodate one another for the remaining parts of their terms.

Mundigi also called on the church and the Embu Senator Njeru Ndwiga to intervene and bring the two warring sides together for reconciliation.

“The church, the Senator and other stakeholders should look for ways of ending the infighting between the governor and the MCAS for the sake of Wanjiku. The county stands to lose a lot if the current wrangles are not stopped,” he said.

Wambora’s political advisor Alfred Kigoro, on the other hand, said plans for the governor and the wards representatives to meet and reconcile were under way.
“A lot is happening and very soon you will see the governor and the MCAs shaking their hands and working together for the benefit of the resident,” said Kigoro.

Mundigi has been heavily involved in community empowerment matters in his passion to make the world a better place.

He has been traversing every corner of Embu preaching about the unity of the county for it to develop.

Mundigi has been contributing to charitable causes in the community and supporting the needy.

Mundigi plans to vie for the Embu senatorial position in 2017 and is confident of winning.
